Kevin Pokorny

Kevin Pokorny is the owner of Pokorny Consulting which he founded in 1991. He has worked with hundreds of employers throughout the United States in industries such as banking, insurance, finance, agriculture, utilities, senior care retirement, technology, small manufacturing, law enforcement and fire fighters, education, non-profits, state and local governments.
Kevin has 28 years of expertise in designing and delivering training on such topics as employment law, sexual harassment, diversity and respect in the workplace, behavioral-based interviewing, Emotional Intelligence, teamwork, critical thinking, and coaching. Kevin estimates that he has trained more than 35,000 employees in sexual harassment prevention. In addition, he has partnered with labor law attorneys as a consultant in providing training and consulting services as a condition of employment law settlements between employers and employees, and has testified as an expert witness in a federal civil rights trial.
He has 20 years of expertise in planning and facilitating education and human service public forums, strategic planning for government and small profit and non-profit organizations, facilitating government project steering committees and management team retreats, and conducted employee focus groups. Kevin has been a facilitator for several Honest Conversation study circles on race relations in the Des Moines area sponsored by the Iowa Civil Rights Commission.
Kevin also serves as a conference speaker, workshop presenter, and a management coach.
Prior to owning his own consulting business, Kevin was employed with the Iowa Department of Personnel for six years as a training officer and the Iowa Civil Rights Commission for six years as an investigator, mediator and training officer.

Kevin holds a BA degree in Liberal Arts from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, and a certificate in Internal Consulting from University Associates Consulting and Training Services in San Diego, CA. Kevin is one of eight certified master trainers for the TrainerSelect™ Team of VisionPoint Productions, who deliver high impact training to VisionPoint’s clients in the United States. He is the current co-chair of the Drake University Arts and Sciences National Advisory Board, board member of the West Side Chamber of Business and a member of Central Iowa SHRM.
