Jack Cade, the bumbling but lovable supervisor, from our popular Jack Cade's Nightmare series, returns in this video-supported training workshop designed to help managers understand the performance management process and the importance of supporting the organization's policies.
This version builds on the learning from Jack Cade's Nightmare and Jack Cade's Nightmare II: Double Liability and examines the most common performance management pitfalls using a humorous, easy-to-understand approach. This workshop is also interactive, allowing participants to make performance management systems more effective in their organization
Part I: The Performance Management Nightmare - Jack Cade thinks management is pretty simple - he just stays out of the way and follows his "No problem" approach to every problem or situation. Jack is caught in a classical employee-upper management crossfire. His employees pressure him for specific performance feedback and more involvement. Upper management wants productivity and performance improved. Through a series of situations you will witness the mistakes Jack makes in dealing with his employees and his communication to his upper management.
Part II: Preventing the Nightmare - The case studies presented in this segment illustrate how you can avoid potential nightmares by better understanding your role as a manager and by learning some of the basic rules of performance management. Guided by a 10-point outline for better performance management you will revisit the mistakes Jack made in Part I and consider ways he should have acted to prevent his nightmare.
Key Training Points:
- Improve the manager-employee relationship through continual communication and interaction.
- Enhance a work environment that is centered on cooperation and partnership.
- Increase productivity through clear expectations and constant feedback.
- Develop a more skilled workforce by identifying opportunities for the employee's professional development.
